FROM OUR PASTOR
Winterville Christian is significant to the greater Greenville community because of its beliefs, the practice of those beliefs, as well as upholding the tradition of the Christian faith. I encourage you to visit us through this website as well as visit with us on Sundays for worship and Christian education. Forgetting the way we try to rationalize and impress with numbers, I believe that congregations need to emphasize faithfulness and integrity. The value of Winterville Christian Church is that we are a size church that emphasizes the church family and knowing each one in our church family. The health of our church is that we work together, resolve conflicts in a healthy way, and recognize that human irritants are simply ways people reach out for help and nurture. We are an open and affirming church, welcoming people of any social group, economic strata, persons of color and ethnic origins, and persons of all sexual preferences. We recognize that the wealth of the Christian gospel is a plurality of ideas and opinions, which, though can polarize, is meant to solidify the church into a healthy family of faith. Diversity is a part of our unity. We continually attempt to look forward in a planning process that challenges us to risk, to walk in faith, and to be creative. Instead of being a rigid religious institution, we feel that we are a work in process. We do not look for easy answers to the difficult life in which all of us are immersed. It does not bother us to say that “At this time this is what we believe, but we are open to further insight and revelation of greater truths than we cannot presently comprehend or are open to hearing.” How often have you heard that buying a house or buying vehicles is the biggest investment that you will ever make? I disagree. The church you choose, the church family that you love and loves you, and the weekly faith you practice is your biggest investment. I invite you to worship with us, talk with us, and work with us before you commit to your lifestyle of faith. The church you choose really does affect you, your family, and the way you choose to live your life. Peace, J. David Griffin, D.Min.
